Yohji Yamamoto Spring/Summer 2019

A mix of gothic undertones and futuristic sensibility, Yohji Yamamoto’s spring/summer 2019 runway collection did wonders in terms of combining two different concepts. A dark color palette washed over the entirety of the show, only being briefly broken up by streaks of light color which help to draw more light into the collection. I particularly loved the volcanic colors of one particular garment, which donned a woman’s face and helped break up some monotony of the color scheme. I do think a lot of the pieces worn within this collection could fit well into any man’s closet, but perhaps reconsider some of the longer pants which far exceed traditional customs.
