Engineered Garments Fall 2022

Inspired by the Robbery Eggers film, The Lighthouse, Daiki Suzuki’s Fall 2022 collection is made up of large overcoats, chunky sweaters, wool vests, and draped pieces. It is apparent that this film was the light behind Engineered Garments’ fall look. Suzuki first saw this eerie, island plotted movie during quarantine when a friend recommended he watch it. Little did he know, at the time, that the loony, fisherman wardrobe would be brought to life months later.

Different patterns and textiles were thrown onto each garment, giving every piece a crazed look. Incorporating the film’s stylistic nuances, says Suzuki, he engineered this collection with a balance of utility pieces and unexpected materials.

This collection is not something that you would typically see on the street, which makes it interesting. It is a work that would need to be worn altogether or not at all, making it difficult for anyone besides the targeted audience to comfortably wear.
