E-Cigarettes and vaping have become increasing popular over the last few years in multiple different age groups. You can buy them at gas station, online, in a huge amount of different establishments, etc. They’re everywhere and there really is no escaping coming into some sort of contact with them whether you’re a user, or just by seeing one in your local shop. However, do you know what they could potentially doing to your body if you choose to use e-cigarettes and their accessories? There have been some serious concerns that follows the use of e-Cigarettes and vapes in the news and in the health and wellness community. In a report orchestrated by Single Care,

In 2011, there 7 million e-cigarette users worldwide. By 2018, that number had increased to 41 million. (World Health Organization, 2018.) There will be an estimated 55 million e-cigarette users worldwide by 2021. (Euromonitor, 2018)

The number of users and sales of e-cigarette products have risen quite dramatically. In fact, according to the data only took seven years for the original number of users to skyrocket to over 5 times the original amount! E-cigarettes and vape products are something that need to be further looked into as their usage and popularity has become an alarmingly common practice from what the data shows. As items and products are released for public use, we can’t fully know what they are or aren’t capable of until we can study them over a long period of time. This is especially the case with e-cigarettes as they have the potential to cause harm to our bodies due to health cases which have been confirmed. We are not able to know fully how much harm they can do, so the smartest idea is to be mindful of this and steer clear of them. These reasons are exactly why we are going to dive deeper in this article into what e-cigarettes are, how they function, what they can do to your body, and why they can be harmful to one’s body.

Questioned Contents

Do you know what exactly are in e-cigarettes? If you don’t know the answer to that question, scarily enough, neither do scientists! Johns Hopkins composed an article which was reviewed by Michael Joseph Blaha, M.D., M.P.H. who is Director of Clinical Research, Ciccarone Center for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease and a Professor of Medicine,

E-cigarettes heat nicotine (extracted from tobacco), flavorings andother chemicals to create an aerosol that you inhale. Regular tobacco cigarettes contain 7,000 chemicals, many of which are toxic. While we don’t know exactly what chemicals are in e-cigarettes, Blaha says “There’s almost no doubt that vaping exposes you to fewer toxic chemicals than smoking traditional cigarettes.” However, there has been an outbreak of lung injuries and deaths associated with vaping. In February 2020, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed 2,807 cases of e-cigarette or vaping use-associated lung injury (EVALI) and 68 deaths attributed to that condition.

Besides the fact that the contents of these devices are virtually unknown and highly addictive, they are deadly. Less deadly than cigarettes, but they are nevertheless still deadly. Why pick your poison when you have the choice not the consume any? These numbers become even worse for developing or younger individuals, but the point of this is that using e-cigarettes can be a deadly practice. You need to make smart choices in your life such as eating healthy, gaining exercise, etc. If you want to always be at your bets, choosing to vape is not a healthy activity. You are in control of the choices you make in life. You need to think about yourself and if it is really worth the risk of your health if you are considering using e-cigarettes if the risk factor can endanger your life.

Save Your Money

Would you consider yourself someone who is conscious about their money goes? Do you budget or pay attention to how much you spend in a given time period? If you have a habit of using and buying e-cigarette products, prepare to be awoken. According to information coming from the Single Care article we looked at from before,

The median cost for regular e-cigarette users is $50-$75 per month and as high as $250 per month. (Tobacco Prevention and Cessation, 2016)

This means someone could possibly spend as around as little as $780 per year or as much as $3,000 per year on their vaping habit alone. That is a lot of money that can be used in other areas which would be much more beneficial. Those are just the average numbers. This means someone could be spending an even larger amount on these products. The money spent on e-cigarettes and their accessories is money that could be invested in business, used to pay off bills or loans, or just to save up and use on something in the future. Instead, this money is going into an addictive product that potentially puts your life in harms’ way. Is that really worth it to you? If you want to start making smarter financial decisions in your life, put your money into something more worthwhile than e-cigarettes. This will keep both your body and your wallet healthier and happier.

Conclusion

We simply do not know everything there is about e-cigarettes and vapes yet, who really knows when we will. We probably won’t ever know the full truth. However, in time we will know more and gain more information about them. It is highly worth it to not use these products as we are finding out now that they can cost you your health. When smoking in general first became a popular and a very common practice, professionals didn’t know until many years later how deadly it actually was. Now the traditional sense of smoking is highly unencouraged. Choosing to use e-cigarettes and their accessories could potentially be deadly and we may not know the full extent of the possible harms that can come from it yet just as what happened with cigarettes. We can’t fully understand all that is involved with these products as they are still too new, so is it really worth the risk of life for the use the product?
