Versace Spring/Summer 2018

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the death of Gianni Versace, and Donatella was keen on presenting a collection that celebrated her brother's life rather than allowing for rumination of his tragic passing. Fashion followers from Gianni's time will recall several motifs from this collection that draw upon the house's legacy in the 90's, such as the baroque prints and black and white maze effects. Revisiting the archives allowed Donatella to honor the late founder's affinity for prints and textiles without bordering on nostalgia. This allows for the new generation of fashion devotees to get a taste of the brand's rich history filtered through a contemporary lens. The sleek Miami villa/Italian excess vibe carried this collection through and employed modern sensibilities thanks to strong outerwear, smart layering and bold accessories.
