Tom Ford Fall 2022

Although Tom Ford’s Fall 2022 collection was canceled for its scheduled showing in New York Fashion Week, Ford undoubtedly made a bold statement with his unannounced lookbook drop during Paris Fashion Week. At the end of February, his lookbook was released without any notice, drawing much more attention and gossip to his day-to-night, sportswear theme.

Due to COVID-19 complications, the collection was not completed in time for its scheduled New York Fashion Week show, ironically tying in with his theme perfectly. This was fuel to the fire, allowing for the American Designer to make a statement when the world did not see it coming. These flashy, monochrome, fall pieces were not made for a man’s typical 9-5 job. They were articulately tailored to mesh glammed-up-day-wear with after-hours, the scene that the world has been itching to experience again. This theme of returning to glamor is easily relatable to those who have been missing the electricity of nightlife while in lockdown.

This collection is a breath of fresh air and a sip of a dirty martini. Compared to his previous fall look that focused on neutral, earth tones, and funky prints, Ford’s 2022 collection entails playing on the combination of several jewel tones and textured fabrics. He ties fuschia, magenta, hot pink, burgundy, green, turquoise, lavender, plum, and violet into statement monochromatic looks. This collection combines his hallmark luxe aesthetic with a glamorous twist on athleisure apparel. We see signature Tom Ford double-breasted topcoats and patterned suits, but we also see a new side of the designer. The velvet tracksuits, detachable hooded coats, parkas, and joggers introduce a versatile sportswear aspect that Ford had not yet put his touch on.
