Man on the Move: Surfs Up

Gieves & Hawkes

Bring it back to the basics; Gieves & Hawkes presented a Spring 2016 Collection that practically expresses the essence of summer style. Call it minimal, practical or simple: a focus on these pieces makes luxury brands and high fashion accessible. Or could it be the other way around? Fashion Collections make the basic elements of style trendy again. In the end, its approach is a question for the seriously stylish or the laid back peace of minds alike.

Style Advice: Break down the complicated collections and complex trends with the original statements of summer: basic tees, shorts and sandals. These items shine golden like the summer sun and offer a fresh perspective on style. For these elements are the foundations to your everyday outfits. Presenting the art of dressing in a casual, yet never sloppy demeanor — just unapologetically relaxed, and enjoyed.

A solid -color crewneck t-shirt, like this Unis, Lee ($52) is a good weathered basic that can take your style from sophisticated uptown style to a low-key downtown vibe. Pair it with a blazer and khaki for a night out, and with a simple a pair of AMI Cotton-Gabardine Shorts ($260) out to Sunday brunch. To achieve the epitome of weekend wear, pair a simple strapped sandal. An unparalleled style, similar to Salvatore Ferragamo’s Strap Sandal ($495) offers summer footwear at its finest. These simple statements make fashion attainable and most importantly: approachable.

Must Have: Amongst the ranks of style debates is the hungered hunt for the perfect t-shirt. What makes this article of clothing idealized? Is it the texture of fabric — its material, or weight? Without out a doubt, the fit is a sure factor. To clear all confusion, Maison Margiela’s Cotton-Jersey T-shirt ($195) is the must have t-shirt. The simplicity of its craft is unmatched. This piece ofluxury comes in the form of clean cuts and elementary form. As a 100% cotton t-shirt, it is easy to style and care for — entirely machine wash, allowing it to be that one item you can wear for any situation and attire.

A brand made of mystery, Maison Margiela is a brand established in 1998 by Martin Margiela, a couture designer from the land of creatives and the birth place of the Antwerp 6: Belgium. Not to be mistake as a member of the creative crew, the beauty of this brand stands apart, resting on a commitment to gender fluid pieces, movement and collections with an impact: an enigma taken in, rather than debated or confined to definitions of style.

The beauty of this Cotton Jersey tee is that skill of such a basic form of fashion. Shop it in single purchases, to add to your t-shirt collection or, buy in the bundle available via Mr. Porter.com ($360.00) to stock up your closet with your new favorite tee. This way you will never have to worry about dressing the occasion. Maison Margiela allows you to look laid back with class and style. For this reason alone, this cotton t-shirt is a must have this season.
