Loewe Fall 2022

Creative director for Loewe, Jonathan Anderson, completely missed the mark on his Fall 2022 Menswear collection, but it’s like that was almost exactly the point.  While looking at a majority of the pieces in the collection I found myself wondering what was going on with each misplaced, irregularly sized garment.

For example, bodysuits are lit up, shorts pockets are skewed to the side, arm holes have been multiplied, denim shirts turned into shorts, and everything looks off; nothing looks like it’s supposed to.

Normal things were made abnormal, almost mocking the digital age metaverse that is slowly taking over real life; almost, but not quite there. Anderson used Photoshop, Facetune, and the virtual reality that our phones imprison our minds to as inspiration for this collection of irregularity or offness.

I did not enjoy the garments in the collection or think that they are wearable. However, now knowing his idea behind the madness, I think that Anderson is a genius.
