Man on the Move: Suited for the Summer

Hermes Spring/Summer 2017

A quality wool suit has the venerable reputation of ensuring wear ability year round. This summer the color with the most mileage in neutrality is Brown, and it compliments skin tones of all varieties. Now, that – is diversity in fashion. Furthermore, the venerated house of Hermés ups the ante with this warm weather must have by styling it with a gray and yellow polo shirt and duffle bag, and toe bearing two strap mandals. This is the walk to the office in the morning, and hit a rooftop bar during happy hour ensemble. Let us concentrate on attaining this French/Italian indication of male chicness.

Style Advice: Building a complete ensemble with panache and efficacy requires synergy. While the following items are not particularly interesting on their individual merits, the whole is awe-inspiring. A suit, a polo shirt, sandals and a bag are not novel entities, nor are they stylistic covets. Yet when placed in one outfit, the results are magical. This wool, silk and linen blended medium brown fully lined suit from Suit Supply, because where else, is the all-purpose foundation every man should have. A mélange fabric polo engineered with a technical hem detail, from Massimo Dutti, solidifies the European effortlessness we are striving for. While temperatures are rising, albeit at a glacial pace, we are not exactly in sandal weather. Instead of a toe bearing sandal, a deep chestnut brown espadrille, also from Massimo Dutti, can serve as an advanced level precursor. Furnish this get-up with a slick watch with personality from Ted Baker. The reddish-brown tint of this piece acts as a faux but still memorable pop of color. For the bag, the options are endless. The optimal choice would be an investment article that has the mileage to stand the test of time. A premium holdall from Suit Supply, the same make as our suit, has the leverage of style attentiveness and practicality. The mid brown color of the bag will contrast attractively with the suit’s steam washed tint of brown. Put this on and a galvanized enthusiasm for the sunny days to come should organically manifest. Or money back guaranteed!

Must-Have: Denim is not going anywhere. If one does not own something as quintessential as a denim jacket, then what is the point? Presuming that all the men of dapper can claim a denim jacket all their own, now is time for the upgrade. Go for a faded wash, or patchwork, or shearling. Style is an inherently informative tool, so educate onlookers on what cool looks like. Cool is certainly dressed in denim, and it has appliqués, or some other form of sartorial enhancement. Not to mention denim jackets will add an oomph factor when worn over a suit. An embroidered cotton denim frock from Urban Outfitters (non-hipsters also welcome) can be the establishing piece for an enticing demeanor ruled by remarkable swagger.

Industry Update: Blindingly bright hues are not for boys, because neon colors of brilliant incandescence are exclusively for men. From late March to early September yellow is the key to emitting vivid edge. On MA-1 flight jackets, blazers, trousers, sneakers, or even snap backs, this is the official hue of summertime cool. The ostensible dandyism associated with shades such as canary are only a formality. While pink was advised to be worn in less flamboyant tones, as it concerns yellow go for the gusto. Be as luminescent as humanly possible. If one finds a prominent garment in this color to be too discomfiting, then wear a splash of it on a sock or a tie or a belt. Brighten up the repertoire and step into a new age of masculinity!
