Man on the Move: Suitable For Anything

Luxury fashion designer Brunello Cucinelli knows a thing or two about style and dressing well, so it’s no surprise he feels that “there is definitely a comeback of the idea of dressing well every day. Nowadays, suits can be worn for many occasions - to work or to school, to a dinner party or red carpet event.” Those sentiments are echoed all over the industry and have disseminated throughout our culture. “Suiting up” isn’t just for weddings or the boardroom anymore. That’s why Haider Ackermann – creative director for Berluti – shows off this power blue suit at his fashion show. The versatility of this look now makes it suitable for any occasion.

Style Advice: There are navy suits, and then there are suits that are the color of electricity. You should already have the former in your closet, so let’s focus on the latter, which is a bold option, but still wearable to countless events. Try this version from Suit Supply for a similar look. Keep with the colorful look by layering the suit over a military green sweater like this one from United Colors of Benetton.  Pair this style with some contrasting black boots from Aldo, and you’ve got the complete look.

Must-Have: Corduroy is back in a major way. Wildly popular for its luxurious comfort decades ago, this vintage style is hitting the industry by storm. And what better way to bring on the layering season than to pick up this corduroy jacket by the designer who is the king of opulence, Tom Ford. Not only is this a must-have in fabric, but this trucker jacket is also an essential style to pick up. Considering it’s Tom Ford, the price actually provides great value. But if you’re looking for an even more wallet-friendly option, ASOS has a mirror image for much less.

Industry Update: The GQ x Gap collaboration has been going strong for the 6th year in a row, as the 2017 version recently unveiled “The Coolest Designers on the Planet” Collection. While last year was focused more on up and coming American designers, the premise behind the latest partnership is expanding the designs to a global scale. This year includes some of the hottest labels like French brand AMI and Tokyo’s United Arrows & Sons. These mashups make for special pieces at affordable prices. Some hot ticket items can even reach holy grail status, as the quantities are limited and the top choices usually go out of stock rather quickly. The collection is out now, so time to fill the fall wardrobe with unique designs.
