Les Hommes Spring/Summer 2018

An alpha, masculine mood pervaded throughout Tom Notte and Bart Vandebosch’s spring outing for Les Hommes. Most looks came with tops of the sleeveless variety, including vests, athletic hoodies and bomber jackets. Strong shoulders and bulky velcro sneakers further heightened the collection’s cool, tough guy aesthetic. Pants were cut full and fell languidly below the ankle. Some intricate details and embroidery, such as the bugle beads, lace-up detailing and tiny grommets, elevated many of the sportier pieces into ath-luxe territory. A few dressier touches were on display in leopard printed suits, but the overall black/white/khaki lineup consisted of streetwear-inflected pieces in oversized proportions and minimal layering. One look featuring leather shorts over leather tights would have been a more convincing combination without the cross laceup-grommet details; however, these looked rather splendid in the khaki top/undershirt version. Some bold ear jewelry also made an appearance in various lengths and forms but they did not resonate well with the manly and urban vibe of this collection.
