Issey Myiake Fall/Winter 2017

Pants with movement that are not voluminous. Eccentricity that is compact and controlled, not outlandish. The Fall/Winter collection for men at Issey Miyake displays an unhinged sculptural take on classic menswear silhouettes. Spotlight on the blue jacket that parachutes in the back, a pure moment in the overall beautifully-finished presentation. Showmanship is a forgoing tenet for this brand. Nothing feels gratuitous. It is all studied, pondered and immaculately executed. The ending suit, with its nod to the equestrian cut, was indicative of how sleek creativity can transform the trite into the fresh and uniquely wearable. The thrill that is induced from seeing Dai Fujiwara’s original perspective does not need pontification. Look at the clothes in motion and the senses will be awakened. Take my word for it.
