DAKS Spring/Summer 2018

Drawing upon vintage dandy references for Spring 2018, DAKS creative director Filippo Scuffi infused traditional gentleman codes with summer fabrics and lightweight tailoring. The jacket, waistcoat, trouser and tie ensemble was presented with slight alterations but remained a constant look throughout. Straw sun hats and collegiate stripes on deep v-neck sweaters played out well with the relaxed mood for this season. Cropped, wide-legged pleated trousers in crinkled fabrics were the centerpieces of the collection, with everything revolving around them and adding to the sense of movement and ease. Unstructured jackets work especially well for the casual, warmer days when looking polished but comfortable and cool is of the utmost importance. Smart layering in earth tones provide an easy way to transition between indoor sophistication and outdoor activities. Large canvas duffle bags are the ultimate weekend power accessory. The models themselves were anything but traditional in their runway approach, with many high-fiving each other, waving their hats or displaying a cheesy grin. Fashion should never be taken too seriously, and this collection proved how one’s clothes should reflect that outlook.
