Moschino Fall/Winter 2017

Each season, since becoming Moschino’s creative director, Jeremy Scott skirts the fine line of tastefully tact and tragically tacky. Progressively, the charm and disarming camp he instills in the brand’s clothes has pushed his output towards the former in place of the latter. As Scott has imprinted his voice in the brand, each collection – specifically the menswear – appears more intelligibly conceptualized and rather thought provoking. No longer is he relying on the tropes of comic relief for evocation. The military theme presented at the Fall/Winter 17 show unapologetically communicates that Scott will always be a thematic designer (i.e. McDonalds as inspiration for his first season at the helm). As time and fashion pushes forward he continues to become a more seasoned storyteller. Whether it is a story one wants to indulge in is entirely individual. The fact of the matter is that the narrative has been developed, executed and edited before being presented. The latter as well as the show are markers of undeniable talent. 3 ½ cufflinks.
