Maison Margiela Spring/Summer 2019

With a strong sense of femininity and a willingness to do what’s necessary to achieve a great look, Maison Margiela spring/summer 2019 runway show was a perfect example of creative expression properly paid off. However, I must admit that a lot of this appreciation is stemming from a stern appreciation of Margiela’s creative endeavors, and not having come as a result of noticing any outfits that I would truly wear in real life. Perhaps that is the downfall of the show, as the scale learns too far towards the artistic side of things, resulting in any chance of finding practicality within the garments sadly gone out the window. I particularly doubt how a man could wear what appeared to be a form of tape around their body. It was at this moment that I realized the show wasn’t catering to the potential of its garments joining any man’s closet, but rather to impress the onlooking eyes of the runway show’s audience itself.
