Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2019
Led by creative director Virgil Abloh, Louis Vuitton’s spring/summer 2019 runway show was a sample platter for the future of the french fashion house. Perhaps one of the biggest advantages of LV’s new leadership is the confidence Abloh helps bring to the table, working to put together simplistic garments that leave more open to interpretation than is explained outright. Sometimes less is more, and LV truly brings that statement home. I particularly enjoyed the all white suits with little dashes of color like blue sunglasses to help establish a sense of contrast within the outfit. Albeit impeccable in its design, it may be tricky however to find places within a personal wardrobe for any of these garments. If you enjoy stark expressionism then go for this collection, but something tells me this show was more about flexing the creative strength of Louis Vuitton’s brand than actually creating anything too practical.
