Issey Miyake Spring/Summer 2019

A healthy mix of relaxed daywear to something more suitable for a night out with colleagues, Issey Miyake’s Spring/Summer 2019 runway show helped pave the way for casual sensibility. Often hovering around a spectrum of clean whites and bright grays, the collection is aware of its strengths and plays to them with hyper efficiency. When the collection does turn into something a little more colorful, it is relieving to find out that just as much effort has been put into the second half of the runway show as the first. I particularly enjoyed the green, teal, purple and white diagonally lined shirt that is displayed about halfway through the show, almost to flex creatively to the audience and show that practically can be reached without sacrificing artistic ability. I believe many outfits within this collection could fit nicely into any man’s wardrobe, but with a show centering largely around very basic colors that would be difficult to mess up.
