Issey Miyake Spring/Summer 2018
For his Spring 2018 collection, Yusuke Takahashi proposed a variety of proportions and volumes from billowing paper bag pants and cocoon-like Japanese robes to skin-tight knits and tapered trousers. Popping up between a mostly earth-tone colorway was an electric orange ensemble and royal blue getup that provided maximum impact to an otherwise subdued and understated lineup. The rolling up of the sleeves, deep v-necks and scoop necks, and bare ankles instilled a sensual side to these clothes and provided a winning formula that the younger consumer will gravitate towards. The signature Issey Miyake micro pleats were evident in flute pants and utilitarian shirts which further added to the cool factor of these clothes. Up close, all the textures and textiles have an implicit magical quality about them that many onlookers will appreciate. Clothes that spark emotion from up close as well as from far away are just the kind every man needs for his repertoire.
