DSquared2 Fall/Winter 2017
The creative heads of Dsquared2 have a way of utilizing an overdramatic blingy quality that never feels superfluous or tasteless. This label is the definition of hip. This is not tapping into the zeitgeist but reshaping it. This collection saw new proportional territory for the duo, with the prevalent oversized knitwear. Off kilter, mix matched styling offered novelty. Placing cow print with plaid with stripes, etc. An apt word used to describe this output would be exciting. An electric energy. Dean and Dan stayed true to their design sensibility while propelling it forward. The models walked strongly with inscrutable expressions that signified a type of confidence not to be challenged. Voluminous tops and outerwear matched with slim cut and/or skinny bottoms crafted a universally achievable silhouette. We can all pull off the look of a larger sweater or coat with jeans or trousers that sculpt our bodies. To properly describe this collection, playful. Not a far departure from the brand’s repertoire. This design house does not take itself too seriously, and all prospective and longtime loyal consumers are instructed to follow suit.
