Dsquared² Spring/Summer 2019

Staying consistent with a pattern of dark greens and eventually lightening up to more welcoming colors, Dsquared²’s spring/summer 2019 show took strong influences from the military style. Long, draping over shirts balanced itself well off of baggy, camouflage colored army pants. As military inspired garments have been brought to more relevancy in recent years for every day outfits of men, I do agree there are a few pieces in particular that could be assimilated well into your closet. In particular, I loved some of the first outfits shown which displayed a sharp sense of contrast between tight black shirts and army inspired outerwear which draped beautifully over the model’s frame, but as the show went on and things started to move into more of an artistic direction I found myself becoming less and less interested in what the show had to offer. I have to give Dsquared²’ credit for remaining consistently practical throughout the show, but unfortunately this accessibility just led to its own detriment.
