2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata

The 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata embodies the ultimate ride: a classy interior, smooth ride, and edgy details. The sporty feel is complimented by its techno inspired features and polished look. Undoubately a standout, the new Miata was the winner of the 2016 World Car of the Year Award in March. The sleek design is eye catching with a more athletic finis. Following suit with a line of lightweight cars, the Miata does not disappoint, using new materials like aluminum and high tensile steel that does not sacrifice stability. It is shorter and lower in height than any of the previous models, giving it a compact look. Although the look is innovative in style, it still has all of the previous features that distinguish the brand. Like the other MX-5, the car has signature round rear lamps. The internal mechanism is complete with a new 6-speed manual transmission that is smaller and lighter than the previous generation mazda miata, with an alternative option of a 6-speed automatic transmission with sterling wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Branded as the classic roadster, the MX-5 is light and compact, but the qualities have been heightened. The car weighs just 2,332 pounds, but it delivers maximum power with 155 hp and 148 b-ft torque.

With a signature convertible feel, the soft top can be unlocked and dropped for a thrilling outdoor experience in one accessible step. And just in case the weather takes a quick turn, the top has been reduced to a light weight with an "assist spring" mechanism that allows the roof to adjust back into position while staying seated. The sleek design extends way beyond d the exterior of the car, with the little details in the stitching and fabric that convey a comfortable, yet sophisticated presence. The interior can make a normal night ride a thrilling experience with understated red accent lighting in the front of the car. The best part is that although the car has become more compact with a sporty framework, there is comfortable legroom in the relatively spacious vehicle. There is no need to struggle for storage room with hidden spaces in between the seats. Although the middle console is quite small, there are compartments in the back seats with deeper room for daily essentials as well as solid trunk space for a grocery run.

There are three different models available:

The Base Sport (The Standard Car):

  • MSRP: $24,915
  • 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels

The Club: (Amp it Up):

  • MSRP: $28,600
  • 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels with Dark Gunmetal finish                                                                   7 inch full color touch screen display

The Grand Touring (The next level):

  • MSRP: $30,065
  • 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels with Dark Silver finish
  • only model to offer leather seats (black or tan)
  • rain sensing wiper blades and heated seats

Although the Grand Touring model is by far the most sophisticated in style, all of the options share the same edgy appeal with a leather wrapped steering wheel and keyless entry system. They are all equipped with SKYACTIV technology. As per the website "Pushing the limits of internal combustion, the SKYACTIV G 2.0L and 2.5L gasoline engines deliver much greater fuel efficiency. With higher compression ratios than congenital engines. Simply put, SKYACTIV engines can compress the air-fuel mixture in the cylinder to an extraordinary degree. Squeezing far more energy from every drop of fuel."

The MX-5 Miata gives you more high-tech features with a lighter feel, but it does not lose the original signature in the process. It is the best model yet, delivering in efficiency, speed, and appeal. i
