Femme: Margot Robbie

Lead actresses often find a way to define an era in Hollywood. Women like Audrey Hepburn, Jane Fonda, Elizabeth Taylor, etc. were actresses that highlighted their generation.  Whether it was in movies, fashion, or their personal lives, they were in the forefront of the public eye.  Not only have these icons brought themselves to the forefront of the public eye with their acting props, but also representing beauty with an esteemed level of a class. After only a short time in Hollywood, actress Margot Robbie is ready to assume that same spotlight.

Margot Robbie was born July 2nd, 1990 in Queensland, Australia.  Raised by a single mother, Margot and her 3 siblings were raised in the working/farming class.  As early as 16, Margot worked up to three jobs at a time while studying drama at school.  At the age of 17 she left home with the hopes of acting professionally in Melbourne, where her career quickly took off.  Without so much as an agent, Robbie landed two leading roles in films that year with I.C.U. and Vigilante, as well as acting in numerous commercials to supplant her income.  Spotlights like these landed her a resident role on Australian soap opera The Neighbours. Even early on, without much experience, Robbie’s acting props garnered her a lot of attention.  In 2009 she was nominated for Most Popular New Female Talent on Australia’s Logie Awards for her efforts on the show.  The following year Robbie announced she was leaving the show, with aspirations to move to Hollywood.  In 2011, she did just that, and found a role on the new show Pan Am, which only ran for one season before being cancelled by ABC.  In 2012, Margot Robbie secured a role in acclaimed director Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf On Wall Street. She played along side (now) Oscar winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio, in a role that received a nomination for Best Breakthrough Performance at the MTV Movie Awards.  Playing the sexy and sassy wife of Leonardo DiCaprio’s Jordan Belfort, Robbie became an instant hit at the box office.  Her acting chops as well as her stunning appearance made her a hot commodity, and quickly.  Almost immediately after Wall Street, Robbie secured the lead role in Focus where she starred alongside popular actor Will Smith.  In just those two roles, Robbie flaunted her depth and skill as an actress, using different accents and convincing character displays.  But she hasn’t stopped there.

Lead actresses have made themselves icons by securing the top roles in the biggest box office hits.  With only a limited body of work and time, Margot Robbie finds herself in a position where she is not only apt for the job, but her skills and looks are sought-after for almost any character.  Along with scoring a lead part in this summer’s Tarzan movie, Robbie got the coveted role of cult favorite Harley Quinn, who is the Joker’s girlfriend in DC’s anticipated movie Suicide Squad, due out in August.  Margot Robbie is our Woman of the Month as she finds herself at the peak of her career.  She has reached a level of success and veneration that is befitting of someone with her hard work and dedication.  We hope to see her success continue as she resumes climb the ladder of Hollywood’s elite actresses.

Here are some things you may not have known about Margot Robbie:

What Makes Her Hot?

Margot Robbie is the epitome of a dual threat in the acting world.  While Robbie boasts one of the most striking appearances in Hollywood, she also couples them with her the acting skill she displays on the big screen.  This makes her not only attractive to top producers in the film industry, but also to the eyes of the masses.

What Type of Man Does She Like?

Margot is dating movie director Tom Ackerley.  While only working as high as assistant director, Ackerley has been on set for productions of blockbusters like Rush and War Horse.  The two met while on the set of Suite Française.

Did You Know?

- Margot likes Harry Potter just like everyone else!... or maybe even more.  Robbie used to wear glasses despite not needing them.  She says she “just wanted to look like Harry Potter”

- The scene in Wolf on Wall Street where she slaps Leonardo Dicpario wasn’t scripted.  While auditioning for the role in that scene, Leo would improvise on the spot. Trying to make an impression, Robbie decided to do some improvising herself.  While the script called for her to kiss him, she walked up to him and slapped him across the face.  Director Martin Scorsese was so impressed he gave Robbie the role.

- She’s a huge hockey fan.  Since moving to the United States, Robbie has become a avid New York Ranger’s fan.  She attends games regularly.

- Her gorgeous body isn’t from the result of consistent dieting or eating healthy.  Margot has previously said that she eats whatever she feels like, only eating less when she wants to “wear a bathing suit.”
